Aquia Creek Paddle Launch

When

June 1, 2024. 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

As a special opportunity during the park's quarterly cleanup, for Clean the Bay Day 2024 two park rangers will be leading a volunteer shoreline cleanup from the water! Using a single or tandem kayak, which are free for volunteers to use for this event, you will paddle along the Widewater shoreline and grab trash with grabbers as we go. Trash grabbers and nitrile gloves will be supplied by the park.

The group will meet at the Aquia Creek paddle launch at 8:30am to debrief and get in the water by 9:00am. Please make sure to have a volunteer mirror tag visible on your car's dash, which you can get inside the Visitor's Center at the front desk.

The use of personal floatation devices is required at all times while on the water. You can either bring your own or the park will supply them free of charge. You are welcome to use your own kayak as well, if desired.

There are only 8 volunteer spots available for this event! You can sign up at Eventbrite here.

To volunteer you must be registered with VA State Parks. You can register here and remember to select Widewater as your park!
